Ogden, UT - After dueling a tough Portland State squad to a 0-0 draw last week, Idaho State Soccer hit the road once again, bound for Ogden for a Big Sky Conference matchup with the Weber State Wildcats.
Both teams went on the offensive early in the match, with the Bengals drawing the early edge. In the 33rd minute, freshman Talia Coury uncorked a rocket of a penalty kick into the back of the net for her first career goal. Coury has earned more and more minutes in her inaugural season in orange and black and returned the investment with her first college point.
The Bengals rode the 1-0 lead into the break, but that's the thing about halves: there tends to be two of them.Â
Weber State came into the second half determined to take chances on offense and it paid off. Midway through the slate, the Wildcats rattled off two goals in six minutes of game time to tie up and then reverse the lead on the scoreboard. They would fend off the Bengals' attack for the last half of the half and send them home at all zeroes with a 1-2 score in favor of the home team.
Despite taking more shots per game than in years past, the Bengals weren't able to match the Wildcats' offensive rhythm, taking just eight shots with three on goal to the opponent's fifteen and six, respectively.
