Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bengals Fall in Tough Overtime Battle with Weber State

POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women's basketball team fell to the Weber State Wildcats 72-67 in overtime Saturday afternoon in Ogden, Utah. The loss to Weber snaps a 13-game win streak for the Bengals.

Idaho State falls to 6-8 (1-2) on the season.

The Bengals fell behind early in the first quarter. Weber State took advantage of 12 made free throws in the first period coupled with 66.7 percent shooting from the field to jump out early on the Bengals.

Idaho State never gave up though, crawling back over the next two periods, eventually tying the game with an Aurora Elder layup in the third. The Bengals then took the lead on a Maria Dias three-pointer, before the two teams dug in and battled it out for the remainder of the 4th quarter.

Weber State had the final possession of the ball, but the Bengal defense held strong and didn't allow a score, forcing the game to overtime at 62-62.

Overtime was a stalemate between the two teams for 4:45 until, with 15 seconds left, Weber State hit an 'and-1' to take a three-point lead and force the Bengals to shoot behind the arc on their last attempt. The Bengals were unable to convert and fouled Weber State, letting them convert two more free throws for the 72-67 final.
