POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Bengals women's basketball team fell to 6-10, 1-4 BSC, Saturday afternoon with a 81-60 loss to the Montana Griz Saturday afternoon in Missoula, Mont.
The Griz took advantage of 10 first-half three-pointers to extend a lead on the Bengals that they kept for the remainder of the game. Idaho State was able to cut the lead to eight in the third, but it did not last as the Lady Griz re-extended the lead through the remainder of the contest.
Sophia Covello led the team with 14 points with five made field goals. Tasia Jordan and Alyse Aby also scored in double-digits. Covello and Aby both hit two three-pointers in the game.
Kacey Spink had five assists, the most for the Bengal guard since Westminster in November of last year.
For the second game in a row, the Bengals won the rebound battle, grabbing 38 boards to Montana's 30. Piper Carlson led the way with eight total boards.
Overall, the Bengals shot 41 percent from the floor in the game, but the Griz were on fire, converting 52.6 percent of their field goals and 43.8 percent of their three-point attempts.
Idaho State is back home next week for a pair of needed home games infront of the Bengal faithful. Idaho State takes on Sacramento State Thursday at 7:00 PM and then Portland State, Saturday at 2:00 PM
