Bengals Split Day one of UNLV Rebel Classic

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - The Idaho State Bengals opened the 2025 UNLV Rebel Classic with a five-inning, 10-1 win over Monmouth. The Bengals then fell 4-3 in a tight battle with the UNLV Rebels in game two of the day.

Head Coach Andrew Rich spoke on the Bengals day one performance in Las Vegas, Thursday afternoon.
 

In game one of the day, the Bengals offense took off in the 2nd inning. ISU opened up scoring with  Belle Navarrete reaching on a fielders choice, scoring Ashlee LaRue from third. 

Gracie Smith followed it up with her 2nd homerun of the season over the center field wall, scoring three runs and putting the Bengals up 4-0. 

Alyssa Yee and Olivia Robison reached before Ava Brown Hammered her 3rd home run of the seaon over the right field wall. The Bengals ended the 2nd inning up 7-0 over Monmouth. 

The Bengals scored another three runs in the next inning to put the Bengals up 10-0.

Megan Meracle was near unstoppable pitching in the game. In five innings, Meracle allowed just one hit, one run and two walks. Meracle fanned six batters and forced eigth flyouts in the complete game win. 


In game two of the day, the Bengals faced off against the host-team UNLV Rebels and battled for all seven innings. After two scoreless innings, Idaho State opened up scoring for the Orange and Black in the third. Kennedy Dudley smashed her first home run of the season over left center, scoring three runs and putting the Bengals up. 

The Bengal defense kept fighting holding off the Rebels. UNLV was finally able to break through in the 4th, scoring two runs on a home run to center field. 

After fighting back and forth to the 7th, the Rebels were able to load the bases with one out and a strong single to the left side scored the walk-off runs over the Bengals for the UNLV 4-3 win.


The Rebel Classic continues tomorrow. Idaho State will play the same schedule as Thursday with Monmouth at 12:00 PM PT ad UNLV at 3:00 PM PT.
