Mike Kramer Quotes
On Defense
“We played pretty good defense in the first half too. We just have up two long runs and two safeties missed two tackles. Football is an 11 man sport and 11 guys have to make tackles. We couldn't overcome two missed tackles on the point of attack. Defensively, we weren't bad. We gave up too many first downs but held them in red zone. I thought we did a nice job in the fourth quarter. We just couldn't rally ourselves offensively.”
On the 10 sacks NAU had
“Kevin took a lot of shots last week and half of those were self-induced. He paid the price for it today because he got tentative. When a quarterback gets tentative in this offense you stagnant. We are not going to run the ball. The quarterback has to stand there and fire with confidence. We had routes downfield and he just wasn't seeing it. Kevin is going to have days like this before he really gets over the top.”
On Improvements for Next Week
“Fundamentally it wasn't a very good game for us. That comes back to Mike Kramer. I have to make sure that the plays we call on offense and the plays we call on defense are at least fundamentally sound at least from a fundamental point of view. In that we can at least play our position correctly.”
On the Fumbled Snap at the Goal Line
“I thought he fumbled the snap. We don't usually take an under the center snap. We tried to get down there and get a good push from Mark Clampitt but it looked like Kevin mishandled the snap and the ball started bumping around. It was never really secured and our one good threat was blunted and turned away.”
On the Loss
“It was a complete team loss but a better representation by us in Flagstaff. When we get back here two years from now we will be a formidable team."
