Men's Tennis 2016-17 Schedule Released

POCATELLO, Idaho – The 2016-17 Idaho State men's tennis schedule is now available. The Bengals' schedule features one home tournament in November and seven home matches during the spring season.

Idaho State returns six roster players from last season's squad that finished 8-12 overall with a 4-7 mark in conference play, and the 2016-17 Bengals will be able to showcase their depth early with two big tournaments to kick off the fall. ISU travels to Ogden, Utah Sept. 24-26 for the Weber State Tournament hosted by Weber State, the 2016 Big Sky Champions. The Bengals then head to Boise, Idaho for the Boise State Tournament Oct. 6-10, hosted by the Broncos who finished the 2015-16 season ranked No. 55 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national team poll.

ISU will conclude fall play with the ITA Region 7 Tournament Oct. 19-22 followed by its lone home tournament, the ISU Indoor Open Tournament, Nov. 10-12.

The Bengals open spring play at Utah on Jan. 21, followed by two home matches against Southern Utah and Arizona Christian on Jan. 27 and 29 respectively. ISU then hits the road for five consecutive road matches at Boise State (Feb. 11), at Seattle (Feb. 17), vs. Idaho in Lewiston, Idaho (Feb. 18), at Lewis-Clark State College (Feb. 18) and at Gonzaga (Feb. 20) before heading home Feb. 25 to face Northern Colorado.

Idaho State will compete in seven matches in March beginning at Sacramento State (March 5) followed by a home match against Eastern Washington March 18. The Bengals then play four road matches in five days—at Southern Utah (March 22), at UNLV (March 23), at Arizona Christian (March 24) and at NAU (March 26)—before returning home to take on Portland State March 31.

ISU concludes its spring schedule with four matches in April: vs. North Dakota (April 2), at Montana State (April 8), at Montana (April 9) and vs. Weber State (TBD).

"I am looking forward to another step forward this year with a very experienced and deep team that is capable of making it to the Big Sky Championships this season," Head Coach Mark Rodel said. "This team has the potential to compete against any team in the conference."
