Series vs. Montana State
Montana State leads the series 46-30-3. ISU is 21-18-2 vs. the Bobcats in Pocatello and 9-28-1 in Bozeman. Montana State has won 10 straight meetings. The Bengals last win over MSU was 23-17 on Oct. 11, 2003 in Bozeman. ISU's last win over Montana State in Pocatello was 18-14 on Oct. 12, 2002.
Scouting Montana State
Montana State is 3-4 overall and 3-2 in Big Sky Conference play. Montana State beat Northern Colorado 27-24 last week in Greeley. The Bobcats are averaging 399.4 yards of total offense, 252.6 rushing yards and 146.9 passing yards a game. The defense is giving up 134.9 rushing yards, 249.4 passing yards and 384.3 yards of total offense a game.
Chris Murray is the top rusher for the Bobcats as he is averaging 111.6 yards a game. He has rushed for 781 yards on 122 carries and scored five touchdowns. Mitch Herbert leads the receivers with 28 receptions for 327 yards and three touchdowns. Mac Bignell leads the defense with 54 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
Notes vs. Portland State
- 59 points scored is the most against a Division I team since beating Portland State 59-33 on Sept. 27, 1980.

Mitch Gueller's 97-yard touchdown reception was an ISU and Holt Arena record for longest pass play. The previous record was 95 when Gary Anderson connected with Alfredo Anderson vs. Western Montana on Sept. 21, 1996.

Mitch Gueller has caught 35 passes for 928 yards and nine touchdowns. Mitch missed the first three games of the season this year. He did appear in game 3 at at Nevada on the final play of the game as a member of the hands team for an onside kick in the final minute.

- This was the first time ISU has had two running backs rush for over 100 yards in a game since Oct. 11, 2014 vs. Simon Fraser. That game saw
Jakori Ford rush for 144 yards on three carries and two touchdowns and Xavier Finney carry the ball 19 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

Freshman and Sophomores Make Immediate Impact
In the season opener vs. Western Oregon the freshmen and sophomores accounted for 399 of the teams 431 yards of total offense. Through eight games the youngsters have combined for 645 rushing yards on 129 carries and 10 touchdowns and the receivers have caught 109 passes for 1,805 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Idaho State offense has shown a knack for making the big plays through eight games. Already this year the Bengal offense has 76 plays of 10-19 yards; 29 plays of 20-29 yards, 11 plays of 30-39 yards; 5 plays of 40-49 yards and 7 plays of 50 yards or more.
