Women's Basketball Hosts Sacramento State Thursday

POCATELLO, Idaho –
The Idaho State women's basketball team hosts Sacramento State Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.

BENGALS PREVIEW

· Idaho State picked up its first win ever in Grand Forks with a 68-55 win at North Dakota. Three players finished in double-figures, led by 19 points from Brooke Blair. The win also marked the first time in program history that Idaho State has swept North Dakota in regular-season conference games.

· Through 23 games, the Bengals are averaging 70.4 points per game shooting 44.6 percent from the floor to lead the Big Sky and 36.3 percent from three to rank second in the conference. ISU averages 38.4 rebounds per game with a +5.9 rebounding margin to go along with 7.5 steals per game and 14.6 assists per game. The Bengals also boast a conference-best +9.0 scoring margin.

· Idaho State is led in scoring by Blair at 13.6 points per game. Grace Kenyon, Estefania Ors and Saylair Grandon also average double-figures for the Bengals at 11.9, 10.3 and 10.1 points per game, respectively.

· Kenyon leads the rebounding effort with 6.7 rebounds per contest while Sai Tapasa adds 6.4. Grandon is the only other Bengal to average at least five rebounds at 5.0 per game.

· Head Coach Seton Sobolewski is in his 10th season with the program and carries a 165-139 overall record (.543) and has led the team to two postseason tournament appearances: one NCAA tournament berth and one WNIT tournament appearance.

SCOUTING SACRAMENTO STATE

· Sacramento State carries a 5-18 overall record on the season with a 3-9 mark in conference play. The Hornets have yet to win a game on the road this season with an 0-12 road record, however, the Hornets are hot off a two-game win streak which saw them defeat both Montana and Montana State at home.

· The Hornets average 70.8 points per game shooting 37.5 percent from the floor and 30.2 percent from long range. Sac State also averages 37.8 rebounds per game to go along with 13.2 assists and 14.2 turnovers per game. The Hornets also average 9.2 steals per game to rank third in the conference.

· Three players average double figures for Sac State, led by Hannah Friend at 18.0 points per game to rank fourth in the conference. Maranne Johnson adds 15.7 points per game while Dana DeGraffenreid chips in 10.2 per contest.

· Three players average at least six rebounds per game for the Hornets, led by Friend at 7.1 per contest to rank 11th in the conference. Both Kennedy Nicholas and Johnson also grab at least six boards per game with 6.5 and 6.0, respectively.

· The Hornets are led by Head Coach Bunky Harkleroad who is in his fifth season with the program.

· SERIES REVIEW: ISU leads the all-time series 37-7 with an 18-1 record in Pocatello. In the last meeting, Idaho State defeated Sac State 85-71 in Sacramento on Jan. 20th.
