Bengals Record Largest Margin of Victory Ever in 79-49 Win over Montana

POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women's basketball team beat the University of Montana 79-49 Thursday nightin Dahlberg Arena. The win is the largest margin of victory against Montana. 

"[It was] a great team effort," said Head Coach Seton Sobolewski.

Callie Bourne scored four points in the first two minutes, starting off the game strong for the Bengals. Bourne went on to score eight points in the first quarter. The quarter ended after a layup by Delaney Moore, giving Idaho State the lead at 16-15.

The Bengals started off the second quarter with a 7-0 run which ended with Idaho State leading 23-15 at the 7:05 mark. Estefania Ors hit a three with 53 seconds left in the half extending the Bengal  36-25.

In the third quarter, Tomekia Whitman's layup at 5:06 gave the Bengals a, 50-36 lead. After Montana cut the ISU lead to 50-40, the Bengals dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Griz 29-9 to earn the 30 point victory.

"We did a good job having energy tonight for 4 quarters which led to some very positive things," said Sobolewski.

Idaho State shot 55.9 percent from the field and the Bengals outrebounded the Grizzlies 38-28. 

"Callie had a great game and hit big shots in the fourth quarter," said Sobolewski. 

Bourne earned herself a double-double and led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds. 

Idaho State had three other players in double-digit points. Konte followed Bourne with 17, Moore had 14, and Ors had 13.

The Bengals take on the Grizzlies in round two on Saturday, February 27 at 12 p.m. in Missoula, Mont.
