Bengals Continue Record-Book Addition Streak Day Two in Cali

POCATELLO, Idaho - The Bengals continued the momentum of their California road trip into day two. At the Pacific Coast Inter-Collegiate hosted by  Long Beach State and the Bryan Clay Invitational.

The Bengals started the day strong this morning in the distance events. In the women's open 10k, Freshman Cassandra Vasquez finished 4th with the 8th- fastest time in Idaho State history, 35:57.58. 

Presley Timmons finished the 800m strong. Timmons ran the fifth-fastest time in Idaho State history with a time of 2:10.07 in the 800m, a new PR. 

Brianna Hagler finished strong in the heptathlon. The Bengal senior finished with the seventh-highest score in the event in school history at 5207 points.

On the men's side at the Pacific Coast Inter-collegiate, Axel Tirado-Sanchez and Zack Ramos followed up last week's performance with another pair of personal bests and top-10 marks.

Tirado-Sanchez  threw the second-longest mark in ISU history passing Craig Byington from 1973. His mark of  54.46m (178'8") leads the Big Sky Conference. 

Zack Ramos moved up the ISU all-time to third all-time in the discus. The Bengal sophomore threw 53.64m (176' 0") to move himself higher up the record list. 

Freshman Zachary Cox finished 2nd in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.14 for the Bengals. Cox later came back to finish fourth in 110mH with a time of 14.56.

Treyshon Malone won his third long jump competition of the season. Malone earned the podium with a mark of 7.56m (24' 9 ¾"). 

Tyler Valenzuela tied his personal best in the pole vault with a third-place 4.91m (16' 1.25") finish.

Looking Ahead

The Bengals continue tomorrow at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational with running and field events.
