POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's tennis wrapped up the weekend 2-0 defeating the Utah State Aggies 6-1 in Reed Gym. This was just the fifth all-time win over the Aggies but the third out of the last four meetings. The 6-1 score is the highest margin of victory the Bengals have ever had over the Aggies.
"Our team was so determined today," said Head Coach Gretchen Malloney. "They've been working on some very specific things in practice and they really put those into their matchplay today. In doubles w,e've been working on closing the net. In singles t,he girls all figured out their game plan and did what it took to win their matches. They all were very willing to be adaptable. They all were strong mentally today as well which is something they've also been working on."
The Bengals started the day with a sweep of all three doubles courts to take the first point.
At No. 1 singles, Hana Cho engaged in a marathon three set match. After nearly three hours of back and forth battling, the Bengal stood victorious with the 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 victory.
Lola O'Lideadha took down her opponent only losing two games in her 6-1, 6-1 victory. 4
Sol O'Lideadha also took care of business downing her opposite 6-1, 6-0.
Leah Kuruvilla and Stefanya Shalakhova wrapped up the win for the Bengals, both taking down their opponents in straight sets.
The Bengals are back home next week hosting the College of Idaho in Reed Gym Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1:00 PM.
