OGDEN, Utah – The Bengals women's tennis team traveled down to Ogden, Utah to take part in a neutral site match against the Utah Tech Trailblazers.
Beginning in the doubles matches, the first duo for ISU to wrap up was in the #2 doubles match where the tandem of
Asem Shoybek and
Stefanya Shalakhova would each earn their team-leading fifth doubles win of the year, defeating UT's Sampere/Kezos 6-3. The next doubles match to finish up was #3 where
Hana Cho and
Sydney Morris were unable to get the W, falling to Venkatakrishnan/Hsu 5-7. The doubles point would all come down to Sol and
Lola O'Lideadha in the #1 doubles match. The twins were taking on Utah Tech's Mellor/Berdecio, and they extended the match into a tiebreaker, and the O'Lideadha sisters would pull it out, winning 7-6 (7-4).
Heading into singles play after the big doubles point win, the Bengals were fired up, and you could tell form their play in the singles matches. As each Bengal swept their Trailblazer opponent, the first two to finish of their matchups were
Sol O'Lideadha in the #4 singles match and Lola O'lideadha in the #2 singles match, followed by
Hana Cho in the #1 singles match, and then
Asem Shoybek in the #3 singles match. The final two Bengals to put the finishing touches on this one were
Stefanya Shalakhova in the #5 singles match and
Megan Lang-Gould in the #6 singles match. As Idaho State would go on to defeat Utah Tech 7-0.

Gretchen Maloney shared her thoughts on her team's win, "We started out a little bit slow in doubles but rebounded and figured out a way to get the doubles point. In singles the girls all executed their plans very well."
Idaho State's next match will be in just under two weeks, at home in Reed Gym on Friday, February 23
rd as they Bengals get Big Sky play underway, hosting the Portland State University Vikings at noon.
