Biography

Idaho State (2024-25): Appeared in 30 games, shooting 34.3% from three-point territory and making 86.7% from the free throw line...averaged 6.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.4 steals in 15.9 minutes per game... Ties Donn Holston for the 2nd most games played in Bengals' history (124 games)... Against South Dakota he shot a career-high 25 points, making six three-pointers, also a career-high; added two rebounds and an assist (12/04/24)...Against Eastern Washington, he shot a total of 14 points, 50% from the 3 point line and 55.6% from the field (1/30/2025).

Idaho State (2023-24): Played in 34 games… finished with a field percentage of 39.5%, a three-point percentage of 31.3% (26-83), and a free-throw percentage of 78.8%... averaged 4.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.6 steals in 16 minutes per game… set a season-high of total points with 16 against Eastern Washington (1/20/24)... set a season high for rebounds with seven at Northern Colorado (02/01/24)... named to the Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team.

Idaho State (2022-23): Appeared in 31 games… shooting 26.2% from the field, 23.2% from three-point territory, making 13-of-56 attempts and 66.7% from the free throw line… averaged 2.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, .5 assists, and .3 steals in 10.1 minutes per game… scored his season-high of 11 points at Lindenwood (11/23/22), going 3-of-6 from deep and snatching down six rebounds… was perfect at the free throw line going 6-6 at Weber State (01/07/23)... named to the Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team.

Idaho State (2021-22): Played in 29 games, starting seven... shot .314 percent from the field and made 22 three-pointers on 75 attempts... 80% free throw shooter... averaged 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds scored 16 points against Sacramento State (02/19/22)… scored a season-high 20 points and was 5-7 from the three-point line versus Southern Utah (03/03/22)... named to the Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team.

San Diego High School: In his 2020 season he averaged 20.2 points, 10 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. He even scored a season-high 38 points versus Lincoln High School. Burgin garnered 2020 All-San Diego CIF Section Second Team and was named a San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic team captain. The year before he was named the City League Player of the Year. 

Personal: AJ is from San Diego, California and he is heading into his final year at Idaho State. Working hard the last three years AJ graduated early and is now pursuing a Masters in Business Administration in Finance.  He is the son of Susie and Aaron Burgin and he has one younger sister, Samantha. AJ's favorite NBA team is the Los Angeles Lakers and his secret talent is that he can play three instruments. Besides basketball, a couple other passions of his are cooking, and art (music, photography and origami). AJ's birthday is on September 19th.
