Biography

Idaho State (2024-25): Played and started in 30 games, averaging 33.2 minutes, 13.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks...shot 46.1% from the field, 31.6% from the three point line and 66.7% from the free throw line... Received an All-Conference Honorable Mention nod, as well as being named to the Big Sky All-Defensive Team... Finished the regular season 1st in the Big Sky in Offensive Rebounds per Game, averaging 3.5 per game (13th in NCAA), 2nd in the Big Sky in total rebounds and rebounds per game, and 2nd in the Big Sky in doubles-double's (14th in the NCAA)... O'Neil anchored one of the greatest rebounding teams in Idaho State history, as the Bengals finished 7th in the entire nation in Rebound Margin (+8.8), 11th in Offensive Rebounds per Game (14.0), and 45th in Rebounds per Game (38.2) (Big Sky leaders in each category)... O'Neil scored his season high against Utah Valley (12/18/2024), at Northern Colorado (1/4/2025) and Northern Colorado at home (2/3/2025) with a total of 21 points.

College of Idaho Basketball (2023-24): Started in all 36 games for Yotes… averaged 10.1 points on 55.8% shooting from the floor and 27.8% from three-point range… averaged 8.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and .7 steals on 22.8 minutes per game as he helped win the 2023 NAIA National Championship.

College of Idaho Basketball (2022-23): Named All-Cascade Collegiate Conference; started all 37 games… averaged 25.1 minutes, 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds a game… made 54.6% of his shots from the field… one of five Yotes to average in double figures (10.6 PPG)... led team in minutes played (930/25.1 min/game), free throw attempts (97-2.6 APG) and defensive rebounds (185/5.0 RPG)... second on the team in field goals made (154/4.2 made/game) and offensive rebounds (92/2.5 RPG)... fourth on the team in field-goal percentage (54.6%)... had 10 double doubles on the season, including the national championship game where he scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the victory; had 19 games where he scored in double figures; posted double digit rebounds in 13 games; had six assists in the win over Multnomah (12/16/22) to go along with 24 points and 10 rebounds... had 17 points and a season-high 12 rebounds to go along with five assists against Walla Walla (01/28/23).

College of Idaho Basketball (2021-22): Played in 34 games, starting the first four… named to the NAIA National Tournament All-Tournament Team, following a pair of double double performances… All-Cascade Collegiate Conference Honorable Mention… led the team in rebounds (261/7.7 RPG)… third on the team in scoring (341 points/10.0 PPG)… one of five Yotes to make 50% of his shots from the field (52.2%)… second on the team in field goals (144)… made 34.4% of his three-point field goal attempts……had five double-double performances… upped his numbers against CCC foes, averaging 10.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game… scored in double figures in 18 games, including 12 of the final 14 games with a season-high 23 points at Multnomah (02/19/22)… grabbed double digit rebounds in eight games including a 16-rebound effort against Lewis-Clark State (02/04/22)… had eight offensive boards against Oregon Tech (01/22/22)… had three steals against Carroll (11/13/21).

College of Idaho Basketball (2020-21): Transitioning over to the basketball court, O’Neil played in 16 games, starting 15, during the COVID shortened season, earning Cascade Conference Freshman of the Year honors; 10.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game - including six double-digit scoring games and five double-digit rebound games; had 29 points and 12 rebounds vs. Multnomah, adding 25 points and 15 rebounds in a road win at Whitworth.

College of Idaho Golf (2020-21): Competed in five spring events… recorded a 78.25 stroke average over 12 rounds; shot a season-best 71 at both the Bushnell Spring Invite and the CCC Championships, placing seventh overall at the Bushnell Spring Invite.

Boise State Golf (2019-20): Redshirt season

Fruitland High: A 2019 graduate, where he was a 3-year starter and Snake River Valley Conference Player of the Year as a junior and 3A All-State selection, helping his team to the 3A State Title; in golf, was the 2018 3A State Champion and three-time District III Champ, while recording a 69.8 stroke average as a senior.

Personal: Jake, the son of Lisa Robertson and Kevin O’Neil, is a graduate transfer from Fruitland, ID set to study Athletic Administration while at Idaho State. His favorite NBA team is the Memphis Grizzlies and his favorite player is Josh Hart. Some of his favorite foods include sushi and salmon pasta and his favorite TV show is "Invincible". Before a game, Jake listens to pop music and meditates to help put him in the zone. Outside of basketball, he enjoys golfing, surfing, and playing ping-pong. Originally set to be a golfer, Jake redshirted his freshman year at Boise State as so, but after transferring to College of Idaho he would become a dual-sport athlete, playing both golf and basketball all four years at COI.
