Bengals Send 44 to Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships

The meet will be held on Feb. 24-25 at Northern Arizona University

BENGAL OVERVIEW

Idaho State track and field travel to the Big Sky Indoor Championships hosted by Northern Arizona on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25. The meet will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday. 44 Bengals have qualified throughout the season to compete at the championships.

BRADI HUTCHISON
Senior Bradi Hutchison set two school records during her last meet of the season, the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington. She ran the women's 5000m in 16:11.33 and placed second and the women's 3000m in 9:23.28 and placed 19th. Her 5000m time ranks first in the Big Sky and 20th nationally and her 3000m time ranks 2nd in the conference and 48th nationally. Hutchison currently holds schools records in the women's indoor and outdoor 3000m, indoor and outdoor 5000m, 10,000m and the Centennial Course 3K. She ranks second in the women's mile and Centennial Course 5K.

WOMEN'S POLE VAULT
Five Bengal women hit Big Sky marks in the pole vault including junior Samantha Berryman - her height of 3.95 from the ISU Open ranks second in the conference. Sophomore Caitlin Maulin led the Bengal women in the pole vault at the Jackson's Invitational hosted by Boise State and at the Mountain States Games. Maulin placed second with a height of 3.70m at the Jackson's Invitational and finished first with a height of 3.90m, tying a career best, at the Mountain States Games. Sophomores Rebecca Clark, Vanessa Bawden and Gioia Ibrahim also qualified.

SAMANTHA BERRYMAN
In addition to qualifying in the women's pole vault, junior Samantha Berryman will also compete in the women's triple jump and pentathlon. Berryman hit a career record with her 3,555 points in the pentathlon at the Mountain States Games. She ranks second in the Big Sky for the pentathlon.

MIKE ARNOLD
Senior Mike Arnold leads the Big Sky in the men's pole vault with his height of 5.30m from the ISU Open. That height ranks 20th nationally. Last week, at the Wildcat Indoor Open hosted by Weber State, Arnold won the men's pole vault with a height of 5.15. Arnold is the retuning indoor and outdoor Big Sky Champion in the men's pole vault and finished in a three-way tie for 20th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last summer.

MEN'S HEPTATHLON
At the Big Sky Championships, five Idaho State men will compete in the heptathlon. Justin Critser leads the pack with his 5,046 points from the Snake River Open. He placed fifth with 4,983 points at the Mountain States Games. Critser will also be competing in the men's high jump. Sophomore Logan Henderson ranks fifth in the conference in the heptathlon with 5,009 points from the Mountain States Games. He will be competing in the men's triple jump and 4X400m relay as well. Christoph Lange, Harley Goedhart and Garrett Wood also hit Big Sky marks in the heptathlon. Lange will also compete in the men's triple jump. His jump of 14.23m from the Snake River Open ranks third in the conference.
