POCATELLO, Idaho -- Idaho State track and field's Jenica Dodge has been named this week's U.S. Bank Bengal Athlete of the Week for her performances in the 2017 Big Sky Conference Track and Field Championships last weekend.
Dodge, a junior from Rocklin, Calif., showcased her speed and endurance in the 5,000m race on Friday and the 3,000m race on Saturday.
In the 5,000m, Dodge set a personal record at 17:07.64 to claim second place and all-conference status. She climbed to third in the ISU record book for the women's 5,000m.
The day after, Dodge returned to the oval in the 3,000m and secured a fifth-place finish. Her 9:57.16 effort was another personal record and the fourth-fastest time in ISU history.
As a transfer from American River College, this was Dodge's first Division I conference championships and her first indoor conference championships.
The Idaho State track and field team is focused on the upcoming outdoor season. The first scheduled meet is the UNLV Invitational on March 16.
