POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State redshirt freshman
Tanner Conner concluded his track and field season at the NCAA West Regional in Sacramento, California on May 25.
Conner went into the meet ranked 24th in region in the 110m hurdles after a personal best time of 14.01 at the Big Sky Championships. Running in the third of six heats, he was right with the pack up until he hit the fifth hurdle and split his knee open. Conner finished with a time of 14.90.
"Despite the finish today I am really excited, this was a good learning experience for both Tanner and myself," said Head Coach
Hillary Merkley. "I think we both have a better idea of just what he is capable of and what level he is capable of."
This was only Conner's fourth meet of the outdoor season due to splitting time with the ISU football team.
"There are a lot of good things that he brings to our team, the football team and Idaho State University," Merkley said, "Keep an eye on him next year, it's going to be exciting to see his growth!"
The West Regional concludes today with qualifiers moving on to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon June 6-9.
