Looking Back on the Season
The 2023 Indoor season was filled with Bengal victories, new school records, and a handful of new top-10 marks set. The Idaho State track team was able to overcome adversity with a Holt Arena renovation and host a home meet that was not expected to be run this season.
Michael Shulikov broke a 43-year-old record in the high jump at the BYU Cougar Invitational, soaring a height of 2.16m (7-01). Not to outdo himself, the Bengal then broke his own record later in the season at the Big Sky Tuner, clearing 2.18m (7-1.75).
Destinee Rose-Haas has gone undefeated in the women's weight throw. The Bengal graduate has thrown in five meets and stood atop the podium in every single one. At the Bobcat Performance Meet, Rose-Haas was the first thrower in the Big Sky to pass the 20m mark this season, launching her weight 20.23m (66-4.5).
Zack Ramos has had a breakout year in the men's shot put. After winning his first two meets of the year, the Bengal had a stand out meet at the Stacy Dragila Open. On his third throw of the day, Ramos launched his shot 18.48m (60-7.75) breaking the previous record set in 2007.
On the women's track side, Kyndal Martin continues to grow and progress each meet she's in. Not just setting new top-10 marks in the 60mH. In her first career 60m dash, the Bengal ran a top-10 mark of 7.75 seconds.
Two new faces in men's distance made a splash. Cade Smith and and Seth Babble set new top-10 marks in the men's 5000m.
These are just some of the many improvements and performances this season and the Bengals will look to put it all on the line this weekend in Moscow.
