Idaho State women's golf delivered its best round of the tournament on Saturday, carding a 301 (+29) in Round 2 of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook GC in St. George, Utah. The Bengals trimmed 28 strokes off their opening round total of 329, moving from tied for ninth into sole possession of eighth place with a two-round cumulative score of 630. Round 3 remains ahead as Idaho State looks to carry that momentum into the final 18 holes.
Izzy Hassebrock set the tone for the Bengals with the round of her tournament, firing a 72 (E) to match the par-72 layout and post the low score of the day for Idaho State. Her even-par effort was a nine-stroke improvement over her opening round of 83 and placed her tied for 29th in the individual standings through 36 holes.
Andrea Chin continued her consistent play with a 75 (+3) in Round 2, matching Hassebrock at tied for 29th overall with a two-round total of 155 (+11). Chin's five-stroke improvement from Round 1 gave the Bengals two players inside the top 30 of the field heading into the final round. Kaylie Parola added a 76 (+4), finishing tied for 38th with a 158 (+14) cumulative score, a six-stroke improvement over her opening round.
Lauren Aasand contributed a 78 (+6) as the fourth counting score, finishing tied for 44th at 162 (+18) through two rounds. Avery Bayer posted an 80 (+8) as the non-counting fifth score, finishing tied for 48th at 164 (+20). The Bengal lineup's collective improvement from Round 1 to Round 2 underscored the team's ability to respond, and head coach Todd Loveland's group will look to post another strong score when the final round begins Sunday morning.
