SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda, Date — The Idaho State women's golf team wrapped up play at the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate Tuesday afternoon, posting rounds of 328-331-328 for a 54-hole total of 987 (+132) at the historic Port Royal Golf Course.
The Bengals faced a challenging week on multiple fronts. "It was pretty breezy this week with gusts up to 45mph which made club selection tough," said head coach Todd Loveland. "Being a northern team we have limited experience on Bermuda grass which was reflected in our team score." Despite the conditions, the opportunity to compete at Port Royal provided valuable experience for the program heading into the remainder of the spring season.
Sophomore Izzy Hassebrock paced the Bengals throughout the event, finishing as Idaho State's top individual with a 239 (+26) on rounds of 75-83-81. Hassebrock's opening-round 75 was the team's low round of the tournament and set the tone early in difficult conditions.
Andrea Chin was a model of consistency for Idaho State, carding rounds of 81-78-82 for a 241 (+28) tournament total. Chin's best work came in the middle round, where her 78 stood as the team's low score on the day.
Avery Bayer closed the tournament on a strong note, posting the team's low round of the final day with an 80 (+9) to finish at 255 (+42) for the event. Bayer's final-round effort was a nine-stroke improvement over her opening round and helped Idaho State match its best team score of the week in the finale.
Kaylie Parola also contributed counting scores across all three rounds, finishing the tournament at 255 (+42) on rounds of 86-84-85. Lauren Aasand closed her tournament with an 85 in the final round for a 259 (+46) total.
Playing as individuals, Caroline Ryan shot rounds of 88-85-88 for a 261 (+48) tournament finish, while Venus Yong concluded play at 273 (+60) on rounds of 94-88-91.
