Hassebrock leads Bengals at Bobcat Desert Classic

Final Results

POCATELLO, Idaho — Izzy Hassebrock paced Idaho State with a three-round total of 222 (+6) to finish tied for 19th at the Bobcat Desert Classic, held Monday through Wednesday at Golf Club of Estrella.

"The team played well overall finishing in a tight group of Big Sky schools," remarked Head Coach Todd Loveland. "We only made a handful of putts outside of 10 feet and overall I feel we can improve on our lag putting and makes inside 8 feet. We will put the work in the next few days on the green and come out strong for our conference tournament."

Hassebrock fired a second-round 70, the lone sub-par round by a Bengal during the 54-hole event, to go along with rounds of 76 in the first and third rounds. Her 70 came against a field scoring average of 76.49 in the second round, beating it by more than six strokes.

"Freshman Izzy Hassebrock had another stellar performance and top 20 finish this week for us," continued Loveland. "Her game this entire year has been beyond my high expectations for her as a player and I feel the best is yet to come for both her and our team in the conference championship at the Wigwam Blue course."

Avery Bayer showed steady improvement over the three days, carding rounds of 81, 76 and 75 to finish tied for 48th at 232 (+16). Bayer posted rounds below the field average in both the second round (76, avg. 76.49) and third round (75, avg. 75.86). Andrea Chin also closed strong with a final-round 75, beating the third-round field average of 75.86, after posting a 76 in the opening round and an 82 in the second round. Chin finished tied for 52nd at 233 (+17).

Kaylie Parola opened with the team's low round in the first round with a 75, coming in under the first-round field average of 76.11, but finished tied for 62nd at 236 (+20) after rounds of 81 and 80. Lauren Aasand, the fifth golfer whose scores did not count toward the team total, shot 78-77-82 to finish tied for 64th at 237 (+21).

Caroline Ryan competed as an individual and finished 78th at 247 (+31) with rounds of 83, 81 and 83.
