POCATELLO, Idaho – Eight Idaho State Bengals are headed to Sacramento, Calif., to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division I West Preliminary Championships.
The meet runs from May 24-27 with alternating days of men's and women's competition. The Men's competition takes place Wednesday and Friday while the women's competition runs Thursday and Saturday.

Bengal Qualifiers
Destinee Rose-Haas (Discus, Hammer) – After an extremely successful season, Rose-Haas heads to Sacramento ranked 21st in the Discus throw and 21st in the Hammer. Rose Haas won the Big Sky Championship in both events this season and broke the Idaho State school record in the discus this season.
Zachary Cox (110mH, 400mH) – Cox enters the hurdles competition after earning two medals at the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor Championships. Cox won the 400mH and came in 2nd in the 110mH punching his ticket to compete at the West Region Championships.
Owen Mitchell (High Jump) – Mitchell successfully defended his outdoor high jump crown this season winning the 2023 outdoor title and successfully earning a spot to jump at the 2023 West Preliminary Championships.
Ekhardt Van Der Watt (Pole Vault) – In his first season as a Bengal, Van Der Watt made a splash, winning the men's pole vault championship at the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor Championship and earning a spot at the West Preliminary Championships.
Axel Tirado-Sanchez (Discus) – At the 2023 Big Sky Championships Tirado-Sanchez threw the 11th-best discus in the West this season and the 17th-best in the nation, winning the event, setting a new ISU school record and earning a spot in the 2023 West Preliminary Championships.
Kyndal Martin (100mH) – After Dominating the hurdles all season long, Martin earned a trip to the West Region Championships after winning the 100mH at this year's Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
Zack Ramos (Shotput) – Ramos threw the 27th best shotput in the West as he won the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor title this season, earning his spot at the West Region Championships.
Kylee Dimick (High Jump) - Kylee punched her ticket to the West Region Championships at the 2023 BYU Robison Invitational this season when the Bengal soared 5-10 in the high jump during her heptathlon competition. Dimick then came back to win the heptathlon and earn bronze in the high jump at the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
2023 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championship
The 2023 NCAA Track and Field Championships will be held at the University of Texas this season with the meet running from Wed. June 7 to Sat. June 10.
The top-12 finishers from individual events in the West Region will qualify for the national meet.
