POCATELLO, Idaho – The Bengals completed day one of the 2024 Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah Friday afternoon.
The day started with a sweep of the women's pole vault for the Bengals.
Brielle Davis picked up her 2nd win of the season clearing 3.85m (12-7.5) on her third attempt at the height.
Next up was Elliotte Stockham who cleared 3.70m (12-1.75) and tied for third was Lindsey Jones Sagendorf who cleared 3.55m (11-7.75).
In the men's pole vault, Cade Ricks tied his personal best vaulting a height of 4.85m (15-11), clearing the bar on his second attempt. The height earned Ricks his first podium of the year in third place.
Kapri Sylvester was on fire during the women's high jump. Sylvester strode atop the podium with a personal best jump of 1.75m (5-9). The Jump earns Sylvester the 8th best indoor high jump in Idaho State history.
In the men's high jump, Bengal transfer Anthony Garcia picked up his second podium of the season and second consecutive higher finish. Garcia cleared 2.01m (6-7.25) on his second attempt. The 2.01m ranks him at 2nd in the conference this season.
Bengal Freshman Josie Settle led the Bengals in the long jump, leaping 5.59m (18-4) on her 5th attempt to take 2nd place. Settle then came back in the triple jump, setting a new personal best with a distance of 11.20m (36-9) for third place.
In the throws, Jay Wadley picked up the first podium of his career as a Bengal. Wadley threw a personal best 16.60m (54-5.5) to finish third.
On the women's side, Katelyn Dickemore finished fourth , just shy of her personal best with a throw of 13.49 (44-3).
In the men's weight throw, the Bengals took second and fourth place. Axel Tirado-Sanchez took second with a throw of 17.66m (57-11.25) and Sergio Garcia followed next with a throw of 17.17m (56-04)
The Bengals rounded off day one of the Weber State Invitational with a Bengal win. For the second consecutive week, Sarah Wilensky stood atop the podium in the women's weight throw. Her first throw of the day, 18.64m (61-01.75) was good for the win. The Throw is a new personal best for Wilensky and is the third-best throw in Idaho State Bengals history.
The Bengals continue the meet tomorrow with the 55m Hurdles preliminaries starting at 10:00 AM.
