Idaho State Posts Historic 886 at Riverside CC

FINAL RESULTS

POCATELLO, Idaho Idaho State women's golf capped off a record-breaking week at the MSU Intercollegiate with another strong performance on Tuesday, closing with a 302 in the final round at Riverside Country Club. The Bengals' 54-hole total of 886 (+22) shattered the previous school record of 901 (+49) by 15 strokes and secured a sixth-place team finish against a competitive 11-team field.

"We had a great weekend at Riverside Country Club. The team was focused, but also relaxed, and it showed with some of our best scores ever," Head Coach Todd Loveland said. "I love the trajectory this team is on and can't wait to play next weekend in Spokane. Both Andrea Chin and Kaylie Parola carded 2 under rounds and every player contributed which speaks to the depth of the team this season."

Tournament Format

The MSU Intercollegiate was played Sept. 15–16 at Riverside Country Club, a par-72, 6,319-yard layout. Teams played 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday to complete the 54-hole event.

Bengal Bites

  • Kaylie Parola delivered fireworks across the tournament, carding eagles at the par-5 10th hole in round two and the par-5 third hole in round three. She added birdies at holes 1, 7, and 18 in the final round, closing with a 74 (+2) and finishing at 219 (+3), tying for 15th overall.

  • Andrea Chin tallied two back-nine birdies in the final round, striking at holes 10 and 17, on her way to a 74 (+2). She finished with a three-day total of 219 (+3), also tying for 15th overall.

  • Izzy Hassebrock rolled in a birdie at the par-3 eighth hole during her round-three 78 (+6). She totaled 223 (+7) to finish tied for 25th, giving her three straight tournaments inside the top 30.

  • Venus Yong recorded three birdies in round three (holes 8, 10, and 18) to card a 76 (+4). She closed the week at 231 (+15), placing 45th.

  • Avery Bayer rallied with birdies at 8, 14, and 18 in her final-round 79 (+7). She finished the tournament at 233 (+17), tied for 48th.

  • Lauren Aasand, competing as an individual, matched her second-round score with another 78 (+6) that featured birdies at 10 and 16. She wrapped up her week at 239 (+23), in 58th place.

Tournament Positives

The MSU Intercollegiate showcased several program milestones for Idaho State. The Bengals set new school records for 18-hole (291), 36-hole (584), and 54-hole (886) team totals, breaking the previous 54-hole record by 15 strokes. Three players—Kaylie Parola, Andrea Chin, and Izzy Hassebrock—finished inside the top 25, while every Bengal contributed to the team scoring at different points during the week. The balance across the lineup highlighted the team's growing depth and consistency, providing momentum for the remainder of the fall schedule.
