Boise, ID — Idaho State Track and Field team rounded out their regular season travel with a trip to the west side of the state to compete at the Ed Jacoby Twilight, hosted by in-state rivals the Boise State Broncos. The Bengal continued to show considerable improvement, with a long list of new personal bests and four more top-10 marks in school history.
Women's Highlights
For the second week in a row, the women's throwing ring took center stage for the field events, as
Laura Young massively improved her shot-put personal best with a throw of 14.50m (47' 7"). This now moves her from #8 to #5 on the all-time list in the event in ISU history. Continuing in the field,
Tori Conrad and
Mya Hutchings led the meet in the high jump, both with a mark of 1.65m (5' 5"). Brielle Ricks continued to show her pole vault dominance, with a clearance of 3.90m (12' 9.5") to win the meet by almost two feet.
Kaila Mederios opened her outdoor season with a team-leading 18' 11.75" mark in the long jump to place 4th. Lastly,
Abby Behrman recorded a massive personal best in the hammer throw, with a toss of 45.50m (149' 3") to improve onm early season marks by over three meters.
On the track yet another freshman sprinter ran her way into the record books, as
Lydia Lindsey clocked a time of 12.08s in the 100m to move to #10 all-time in ISU history. This ties her with her freshman teammate
Christina NGandu Ye, who ran the same clocking earlier in the year.
Chelsea Uba also dropped two new personal bests in the 100m and 100mH, with times of 12.14 and 14.20.
Ashley Reeck led the distance squad in the 1500m, as she dropped down from her normal distances to run a meet-leading time of 4:35.87.
Elise Wright also dropped a PR in the 800m with a clocking of 2:19.00. Lastly, freshman
Meg Murdock came second overall in the 400m, as she came within 0.08s of her personal best as she ran 57.20m over the full-lap distance.
Men's Highlights
On the track, sophomore
Jacob Webster threw down the fastest time at the meet, with a blisteringly fast personal best of 10.46s over 100m. This clocking puts him #9 all-time in Idaho State History, and sets him up well heading into the post-season. He then followed up this performance with a win in the 200m with a time of 21.22s. Freshman
Chase Markunas led the Bengals in the 1500m, with a personal best of over 9 seconds in a time of 3:58.11. Lastly, the mens 4x400m team of
Dalton Rasmussen,
Braxton Hurst, McKoy Richardson, and
Myles Johnson-Nicholson capped off the meet with a win against in-state rival Boise State in a time of 3:17.22.
Adam Jones was the highlight of the day for the men's field events, as he threw a enormous mark of 60.27m (197' 9") in the javelin throw which moves him to #7 on the all-time list.
Kaiden Lee continued his consistent streak in the high jump, as he tied his personal best at 2.08m (6' 9.75") to win the meet and move ever closer to a top-10 mark. Migail Van Huysteen also won the meet in the pole vault, with a clearance of 4.65m (15' 3").
Andrew Burrows rounded out the field event performances, with a personal best throw of 52.01m (170' 8").
The Ed Jacoby Twilight provided a good reflection point as the team heads nearer to the post-season, with multiple PRs being had and continual improvements as a team. The Bengals now come home this weekend for the Bengal Invite at Davis Field (May 1st & 2nd) to recognize seniors and make final preperations for Big Sky Conference.
