Biography

Smith is majoring in Business at Idaho State with academic focuses in Finance and Theology and attended Great Oak High School in California, where he was coached by Herschel Ramirez and Ryan Smith and played running back and linebacker. A member of the National Honor Society, he was a three-time first team all-state selection and totaled 406 career tackles, 38 rushing touchdowns, and appeared in 47 high school games. Smith helped Great Oak reach the playoffs in four consecutive seasons and finish his senior year as the second-highest ranked team in school history. He said he chose Idaho State because the program believed in him and showed consistent support from the coaching staff and players, adding that Pocatello feels like home. Outside of football, he enjoys weight lifting, hiking, and fishing, listens to heavy rock music before games, and lists Mike Alstott and Luke Kuechly as favorite NFL players. Athletic tradition runs in his family, with his father playing football at Southern Utah, an uncle playing baseball at the University of Michigan, an aunt playing volleyball at the University of Michigan, and two aunts playing volleyball at Weber State.
