Personal: Esplin is majoring in University Studies at Idaho State with an academic focus in Business and was coached by Coach Sovacool at La Costa Canyon High School, where he played offensive tackle. He originally signed with BYU in February 2022 and was a multi-sport athlete in high school, contributing on both the offensive and defensive lines. Esplin said he appreciates the Idaho State community and fan support. His favorite NFL players are Tyron Smith and Joe Thomas, and he follows the Washington Commanders. Athletic ability runs in his family, as his mother played volleyball at Utah State, his father played basketball at Northwestern, and his younger brother plays hockey for the Spud Kings.
