Bengal Track and Field Wraps Up Two-Day Meet at Utah Valley

POCATELLO, Idaho– The Idaho State Bengals men's and women's Track and Field teams concluded the UVU Collegiate Invitational in Orem, Utah with a strong showing and multiple new personal records. 

The two-day meet began Friday with the field events and included the javelin, hammer, triple jump, and pole vault. On the track the finals of the 5000m and 1500m races along with the trails of the 100m dash, 100m Hurdles, 110m Hurdles, and 200m dash took place. 

To finish the meet Saturday included the rest of the field events (high jump, shot put, discus, and long jump) and the remaining track  finals (100m, 200m, 100m Hurdles, 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 400m, 800m, and 3000m Steeple). 
 
Men's Meet 
 
On Saturday, Owen Mitchell and Adam Elorrieta placed second and third  in the high jump respectively. Both jumped a height of 2.12m (6'11.5"). Mitchell now ranks fifth in the Idaho State record book. 
 
Zack Ramos placed second  in the shot put earning himself a personal record of 16.58m (54'04.75") this mark also moved him to ninth place in the Idaho State record book. 
 
Leo Finsterbusch took home second in the hammer with 56.08m (183'11.75"). Finsterbusch also placed fourth in the discus with a 48.38m (158'08.75") throw while Ramos placed fifth  in the discus after a 47.84m (156'11.5") throw, which earned him a new personal best. 

Cal Duke placed first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.26.

In the 100m dash, Cory Mullanix placed fourth with a time of 10.97. 
 
Collin Dylla set a new personal record in the 1500m with a time of 3:53:87 earning him third place. Dylla also took home first  place in the 800m with a time of 1:52:33. 
 
Zachary Montoya placed fifth in the 5000m with a time of 15:15:29. 
 
Kodee Vining had a prelim time of 21.69 in the 200m dash which earned him a new personal record. Vining went on to take fifth place overall in the event. 
 
The Men's 4x400 came in second  place after a time of 41.83. 
 
Women's Meet
 
Jessica Swannack took home first place in the pole vault with a jump of 3.95m (12'11.50"). Brooke Anger placed third with a height of 3.80m (12'05.50").

Anna Gardom took home first place in the Javelin, after a throw of 48.02m (157'06.50). 

In the high jump, Kapri Orton placed second  with a jump of 1.67m (5'05.75").

Elizabeth Butler took first place in the 400m with a time of 55.99. She also set a new personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.96. 
 
Katie Weedn earned a new personal best in the 5000m with a time of 17:53:83.
 
Kyndal Martin set a personal record in the prelims of the 100m hurdles of 14.57 and placed fifth overall. 

Molly Olsen and Madi Kenyon had strong performances in the 3000m Steeplechase placing first and second respectively. Olsen finished with a time of 11:05:78 while Kenyon finished at 11:16:42. 

Following them was Haven Lambrite with a time of 11:40:15, Keely Wolf who set a new personal record with a time of 11:40:93, and Haley Schaeffer who also earned a personal best time with 12:12:30. 
 
In the 800m Presley Timmons ran a time of 2:15:33, just shy of her personal best earning her  third place. 
 
Whitney Lords set a personal record in the triple jump, placing her fourth after a jump of 11.18m (36'08.25"). 

Looking Forward

Next week the Bengals head to Utah State in Logan, Utah to compete in the Aggie Invitational Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10.
