Postseason Honors and Championships Cap Off 2024 Indoor Season

Spokane, WA - And so the 2024 indoor slate has come to an end for the Idaho State Bengals Track squads. However, both teams made sure to go out with an emphasized bang to tie it all up with a bow and provide all the necessary hype for the Bengals in the outdoor season.

With all the prelims completed the day prior, today was all about crowning Big Sky Conference champions in Spokane. As she has done every meet this year, senior Kyndal Martin wasted no time electrifying the Bengal faithful with a dominant performance. Her new school record of 8.39 seconds in the 60m Hurdles only stood for the better part of a day before she torched it with a new personal best of 8.28 seconds, not only her sixth school record of the year, but #2 all-time in the Big Sky Conference. Martin wrapped up 2024 indoor as a well-deserved Big Sky Champion. 

Elsewhere on the track, Presley Timmons, who clinched a spot in the finals in the 800m yesterday, secured All-Conference honors with a time of 2:10.04 in an event that she already owns the ISU record in. On the men's side, Zachary Cox and Khutsisa Rampete took home All-Conference accolades in the 60mH and 200m with times of 7.86 and 21.28 seconds, respectively. 

The Bengals were also well-represented in the field events with multiple top-3 finishes. School record holder and two-time Big Sky Athlete of the Week Brielle Davis earned her first career All-Big Sky nod to cap off what has been a breakout sophomore season in the pole vault. Her final height of 4.14m (13'7") was good for second overall, leaving lots to be excited about for outdoor.

Graduate student Sarah Wilensky put the work in at the weight throw, with a second-place mark of 18.77m (61'7") to earn a spot on the All-Conference list. In the jumps, senior Ethan Garrett roared into the action with a third-place height of 2.02m (6'7.5")

The final day ended with the 4x400 relays, where the women's team of Tenleigh Smith, Josie Settle, Presley Timmons, and Kyndal Martin improved upon their previous top-10 time, finishing at 3:48.96. The group entered the top-10 earlier this year and now sits at fifth in school history.

For Idaho State, the 2024 indoor season has come to a close, with highlights galore to provide all the anticipation for the upcoming outdoor slate. The Bengals have returned home to recuperate and begin preparations for the first chance to compete in the elements at the Jim Klein Multi. The teams made their mark over the last two months, putting opposing schools on notice that Bengal Track and Field is here to compete, and they will get the chance to make another statement in March.
