Pocatello, ID - The Idaho State Track and Field teams concluded the second and final day of the Snake River Open with strong performances by the Bengals across the board. The Bengals concluded the Snake River open after taking on 500 student athletes from 15 colleges including the University of Utah Utes, the Weber State Wildcats, and the Utah State Aggies.
For the Bengals, the day started off strong with freshman
Jacob Webster placing 2
nd in the Men's Long Jump competition with a mark of 7.15m (23'05.50"). Fellow freshman
Kaiden Lee would later go on to take the Triple Jump event with a mark of 13.10m (42'11.75"). On the Women's side, freshman
Izzie Stockham would complete the Triple Jump sweep for the Bengals, winning the event with a career best jump of 10.61m (34'09.75").
In another part of the ICCU Dome, sophomore
Megan Moore finished 3
rd in the Shot Put with a mark of 13.96m (45'09.75"), putting her in sole possession of the 7
th best mark in school history in that event.
Axel Tirado-Sanchez was the Men's best thrower of the day, recording a 4
th place finish in the Weight Throw and a 3
rd place finish in the Shot Put.
On the track,
Zachary Cox placed first in the 60mH with a mark of 8.12, while
Khutsisa Rampete placed 3
rd in the 200m with a time of 21.73 seconds.
Braxton Hurst also had a strong outing, finishing 3
rd in the 400m with a time of 49.96 seconds. Hurst and Rampete would tag team the 4x400m as well (along with fellow Bengals
Niklas Uth and
Qwentyn Petty), placing 3
rd overall with a recorded time of 3:22.96.
The women's sprinters had a decent outing, highlighted by freshman
Anise Becker, who set a personal best in the 60m hurdles with an impressive time of 8.69 seconds, earning her a 3rd place finish.
Mikaela Hill also performed well, clocking 7.69 seconds in the 60m dash and securing another 3rd place finish.
In the long-distance events,
Sunny Gunn delivered a standout performance in the mile, achieving a career-best time of 4:14.04 to claim 3rd place for the Bengals, outpacing an impressive field of 62 competitors.
Seth Babbel also had a strong outing in the 3000m, finishing in 8:24.98 to secure a 4th place finish.
The Bengals will return to action Jan. 25
th in Bozeman, MT at the Montana State Open this upcoming week.
