Bozeman, MT – The Bengals Track and Field team headed up to the North this weekend to compete in the Montana State Open for their first road bout of the indoor season.
The inter-conference competition began with the brawn of the team and was highlighted by a strong outing from
Kait Ward in the Weight Throw. Ward recorded a personal best mark of 16.92m (55'06.25"), earning her 2
nd in the event. On the other end of the strength competition, senior
Katelyn Dickemore also finished 2
nd in the Shot Put, recording a strong throw measuring 13.19m (43'03.25").
Regarding the other lady Bengal field events, both
Brielle Davis and
Elliotte Stockham scored well in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.88m (12'08.75") on route to a 2
nd and 3
rd place finish respectively. The women also competed strong in the High Jump, with
Kylee Dimick winning the event with a mark of 1.76m (5'09.25") and
Audrey Sampsen coming in 3
rd at 1.65m (5'05.00").
On the track, standout Freshman
Anise Becker once again performed well in the 60mH, winning the gold with a time of 8.75 seconds (a mere .06 seconds off of her PR set last week). Opposite of the sprinters, Natalya Babcock came in 2
nd in the Mile with a strong time of 5:13.72 seconds.
The Men's side of the competition was successful as well, with
Alex Conner setting a new career best time in the 60mH at 8.15 seconds. Unfortunately for Conner, his new personal best fell just short of improving his position in the ISU all-time rankings, keeping him in 6th place in school history.
Khutsisa Rampete delivered a solid performance in the 200m as well, finishing in 2
nd place with a time of 22.43 seconds.
Braxton Hurst once again finished 3
rd in the 400m with a time of 50.28 seconds.
The Men also had a solid outing in the field events. The freshman duo of
Jackson Wilkey and
Kaiden Lee won the podium for the Bengals in the High Jump, clearing 2.02m (6'07.50") and 1.94m (6'04.25") respectively.
And last but not least,
Cade Ricks of the Pole Vaulters wound up setting another personal record of the day for the Bengals, clearing the mark of 5.05m (16'06.75") and finishing 3
rd place in the event.
After closing out a strong January of competition, the Bengals are headed back on the road February 1
st as they compete at the Whitworth Invitational in Spokane, Washington.
