Summary

Biography

Idaho State:  2011: Did not play due to career ending injury.

2010 Redshirted.

2009: Benavides played in eight games for ISU before suffering a scary neck injury that ended his season prematurely ... caught 18 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown, and he proved a superb kickoff returner, averaging 33.0 yards per return on nine returns ... also led ISU with a 5.3 punt return average ... caught his first collegiate pass, a 10-yarder, at Weber State ... had his best game of the season receiving-wise near his hometown, as he caught six passes for 44 yards, including his first career touchdown, at Sacramento State ... came back the next week with five receptions against Northern Colorado ... returned three kickoffs in that game for 79 yards, earning him a spot doing the same the next week ... averaged 38.8 yards per kickoff return against Northern Arizona, including a 73-yarder against Northern Arizona ... added 29 yards on three catches as well in that game, and his 224 all-purpose yards in that game had him in striking distance of the ISU single-game record, but he suffered a season-ending neck injury on a 54-yard return to open the second half ... made his first public appearance after the injury two weeks later against Montana, going out for the coin toss and receiving a standing ovation

HS: Lettered in football for two years at Folsom High School ... as a senior he was the first all-purpose MVP of the Delta River League after scoring 23 touchdowns ... was also Folsom's Offensive player of the year ... had 56 receptions for 1,223 yards and 20 touchdowns ... also added a touchdown on seven punt returns, averaging a ridiculous 40 yards per return, and he averaged 33.8 yards on 12 kickoff returns with two touchdowns ... totaled 1,908 all-purpose yards as a senior as Folsom went 9-2 and made it to the first round of the state playoffs ... as a junior he was named First Team All-Delta River League at wide receiver after catching 17 passes for 390 yards and three touchdowns in his first season.

Personal: Parents are Randy Benavides and Tami Withers ... will major in sports management ... his birthday is November 24, 1991 ... his cousin Joe Rausch played football at Fresno State.
