Pocatello, ID – The Idaho State Track and Field teams wrapped up the final day of the Mountain State Games with some great performances across multiple events.
The Bengals started the day strong as
Zachary Cox dominated the Men's 60m hurdle finals, claiming 1
st place with a time of 8.11 seconds.
Qwentyn Petty followed with another personal best in the Men's 400m, winning the event with a time of 48.76 seconds, while
Braxton Hurst secured 2
nd place with a season-best time of 49.11 seconds.
In the Women's 200m finals,
Mikaela Hill took home the title, sprinting to a 1
st place finish with a strong time of 24.77 seconds.
The Bengals' relay team of
Braxton Hurst,
Niklas Uth,
Qwentyn Petty, and
Khutsisa Rampete put together an impressive season-best performance in the Men's 4x400m relay, clocking a winning time of 3:15.84 to finish 1
st overall.
In the field events,
Audrey Sampsen secured a 3
rd place finish in the Women's High Jump, clearing 1.66m (5'05.25").
Kait Ward delivered a strong performance in the Women's Weight Throw, finishing 2
nd with a mark of 17.19m (56'04.75").
The Women's Triple Jump saw
Natalia Alvarez Trujillo claim 1
st place with a personal best jump of 11.77m (38'07.50"). On the men's side,
Cam Davis finished 2
nd in the Triple Jump with a mark of 13.98m (45'10.50"), while
Kaiden Lee followed closely in 3
rd place with 13.91m (45'07.75").
Ekhardt Van Der Watt had a standout performance in the Men's Pole Vault as well, clearing a season-best height of 4.95m (16'02.75") to take 1
st place.
Meanwhile, at a separate meet, the Husky Classic,
Seth Babbel made history in the Men's 5000m, recording a personal best time of 14:15.79, the fastest time in Idaho State history.
Sunny Gunn also competed well in the Mile, recording a career best 4:06.92 seconds.
The Bengals will take the next week to recoup and recover as they prepare for the upcoming Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships.
