Pocatello, ID – The Bengals Track and Field team returned home this weekend to compete in the Stacy Dragila Open, delivering a fantastic showing across the events in what seemed to be an outing of personal bests. A whopping thirty-four personal records were set, with two athletes climbing the ISU all-time rankings.
The meet kicked off with the field events.
Kait Ward highlighted the women's competition with a personal best in the Weight Throw recording 18.34m (60'2"), securing 1
st place and moving up to 4
th all-time in school history. In the Shot Put,
Megan Moore took 2
nd place with a throw of 13.63m (44'8.75"), while
Katelyn Dickemore finished 3
rd with a mark of 13.56m (44'6"). On the men's side,
Jay Wadley recorded a season-best throw of 16.60m (54'5.50") to take 2
nd place in Shot Put, with
Ryan Spaeth also throwing a season-best of 16.41m (53'10.25") to finish 3
rd.
In the jumps,
Kaiden Lee set a personal best in the Triple Jump, winning the event with a mark of 14.24m (46'8.75"), while
Cam Davis also recorded a personal best of 14.00m (45'11.25") to secure 2
nd place. On the women's side,
Natalia Alvarez Trujillo won the Triple Jump with a top mark of 11.46m (37'7.25"). In the High Jump,
Jackson Wilkey and
Kaiden Lee both cleared 1.98m (6'6") to tie for 2
nd place, with Lee's mark being a new personal best.
Audrey Sampsen posted a season-best jump of 1.68m (5'6") to finish 2
nd in the women's event.
The Pole Vault featured another podium finish for
Cade Ricks, who cleared 5.05m (16'6.75") to take 3
rd place.
Elliotte Stockham secured 2
nd place in the women's event with a vault of 3.70m (12'1.5").
On the track,
Zachary Cox dominated the 60m Hurdles, winning the event with a time of 8.00 seconds.
Khutsisa Rampete had a strong day, finishing 3
rd in the 60m with a season-best time of 6.85 seconds, before going on to win the 200m in 21.92 seconds.
The women's sprints were highlighted by a career day from
Mikaela Hill, who set a personal best in the 60m with a blazing time of 7.60 seconds to take 1
st place. Her time ties for 2
nd all-time in school history. She followed that up with another personal best in the 200m, running 24.80 seconds to win the event and move up to 9
th all-time in school history.
In the mid-distance events,
Dalton Rasmussen set a personal best in the 400m, finishing 2
nd with a time of 49.62 seconds.
Sunny Gunn won the 800m with a time of 1:56.82, while
Seth Babbel took 3
rd in the mile with a time of 4:19.29.
Kamber Smith recorded a personal best of 5:20.42 in the mile, earning 3
rd place.
The distance races saw a Bengal sweep in the women's 3000m, with Natalya Babcock taking 1
st place in 10:41.61, followed closely by
Saylor Erickson, who set a personal best of 10:42.48 to take 2
nd place.
Cassandra Vasquez rounded out the podium in 3
rd place with a time of 10:46.11.
To close out the meet, both 4x400m relays put up strong performances. The men's team of
Braxton Hurst,
Niklas Uth,
Zachary Cox, and
Qwentyn Petty finished 2
nd with a season-best time of 3:17.39, while the women's squad of
Gracee Alders,
Jinettie Garbett,
Sage Wood, and
Anise Becker placed 3
rd in 3:55.10, also a season best.
With another impressive showing in the books, the Bengals will now set their sights on next week as they prepare to host the Mountain State Games.
